Practicing Gratitude 2.13.13

- Luke’s 33rd birthday TODAY. Love, love my little brother. So proud of the man he has become, of his amazing wife and three boys. God made Luke brilliant, but still very teachable. Missing him (them!) especially today across the miles (Tulsa is a lucky town to have you!)
Luke, Julie and their crew

Basden, Bogan, Essie and Broderick during a recent Tulsa trip
These two are hilarious ~ and inseperable
- Working through difficult school issues. No fun. But trusting that even in this (relatively trivial) disappointment, there is purpose from your hand

- Corbin’s support of spearheading the response to the school issue

- A special evening with the Keys and Arters ~ darling Allie here with our girls

- Retreating to the lake - even 24 hours makes a difference.
What fishing does for him...
Essie and Cap
- Night-time Jailbreak in the backyard.

- Love this girl. Happy 21st, Skylar, what a dear friend you are to us.

Sky's PRECIOUS roommates
- Four days in Phoenix with Corbin, and grandparents willing to care for the kiddos

- A couple of hours over coffee with Ted and Jen. Great to see them in their new (old) city

- Never knowing quite what to expect with these two

- Going through my closet - even faced with making decisions and purging, I’m reminded that having too much is hardly a problem

- A den full of great kids ~ grateful for the space to have them and of course even more the friendships

- A patient pup

- Esther’s sense of style - boots and lace

- And all her other style as well

- Sweet heart friends

- Don't know that the boys would want to be dubbed "heart friends," but this is a golden one

- Charades in the hot tub, realizing through laughter that we have clearly not taught our kids how to communicate through those gestures

- Getting to live with this park behind our home

- Weekend in Thurber, TX: Smokestack’s chicken fried steak and fried okra, buttermilk pie; four midnight loads of clean sheets; spades; sonic ice; hot coffee and Nothing Bundt cakes; Grant’s questions; Scottie’s asthma; nail salon; roaring fire and a bright yellow blowtorch;  Time away with girlfriends and the resfreshment of laughing hard with good friends

- Corbin so capable at home with the kids

- Basden and Esther’s good-night texts

- Our faithful bleacher warmers...

- And the other bleacher warmers

- These apples didn't fall far from the tree

- "May my thinking and my loyalties and my plans be centered in You and Your Word, letting You show me how to use my time, where to focus my attention, and how to handle my emotions."  Treasury of Praise

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles...   1 Chronicles 16:11-12
